Formed in late 2001, SPRAKATAKS is a group of dynamic musicians who delight audiences with their aural blend of conscious, melodic, and often times, sensual, musical elements. Armed with their self-proclaimed "modern alternative rock-ish pop" sound, creative song structures and arrangements, the band maintains its steady rise in the New York/New Jersey music scene.
The name SPRAKATAKS, which is subject to heated debates about its origin, is perfectly appropriate for a band whose music is sometimes difficult to classify amongst peers and critics. Just like the name itself, the music is open to the listener's own interpretation. With a sound utilizing smooth distortion, acoustic guitar stylings, melodic bass lines, dynamic beats, and other nuances, the band's sonic landscape is further enhanced by its refreshing female vocal delivery.
Based in Cranford, New Jersey, the band has performed at well-known and respectable venues in and around the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area such as CBGB's Lounge, Lion's Den, Love Sexy, Downtown Bar, and Saigon's Bar, to name a few. In addition to their live shows, the band has made numerous in-studio appearances at local independent radio stations in New Jersey.
